Her parents were from Charles County, Maryland. Left a will (proved 16 April 1787, Culpeper County, Virginia; Will Book pages 229-230) leaving twenty shillings each to sons Samuel and Notley, her riding horse 'Fly' to son Thomas, one gold Guinea to daughter Mary (Maddox) Harrell, her saddle, spice mortar and a square of black silk to daughter Sarah Sally (Maddox) Conn, an enslaved man called Harry plus one bed and furniture to daughter Margaret (Maddox) Wilson, and the bulk of the estate -- property, house, barn, buildings, farm tools, an enslaved man called William, livestock and all remaining property -- to son Matthew Maddox, Sr., whom she appointed sole executor.
